Virginia Boyle - Artist
I have been creating art for the past nine years, but I have been intrigued by art my whole life.
The bush has always been close to my heart; a sanctuary for wildlife and the human spirit. The flora and fauna surrounding my home inspires me. Living and working in the village of Bundanoon, NSW, it is hard not to be inspired by the Southern Highlands. I produce small, intricate forest scenes, animals, birds, and anthropomorphic creatures. I have always adored fairy tales. Even the most mundane creatures in my world are fey. My work is decorative, highly detailed, with obsessive patterning; described by a friend as being like, “embroidery with a pen”. It can sometimes take me up to three months to complete a large drawing. (I watch a lot of Netflix:) Trained in design and fine arts, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, UNSW, a Master of Design, UTS, a Bachelor of Architectural Studies, Interior,Victoria University, Wellington. Virginia worked for many years as a designer for theatre, film, and dance. |
